Information about Sacred Heart Catholic Church's Congregational Project
Sacred Heart Catholic Church recognizes that a significant vocation of the church as a whole is to provide guidance for youth and young adults to grow spiritually and to explore and discern their vocations as Christians.
Sacred Heart’s project thus has two overriding goals. The first is to provide resources to youth and young adults, including books, Bible studies, and retreats. The congregation will also provide young people opportunities to explore their gifts through participating the church’s calling to serve the community. These programs will be guided by Pope Paul VI’s dictates in Popularum progressio that the laity should pursue their particular vocations (whether teacher, police officer, politician, doctor, nurse, etc.) in ways distinctly marked by their Christian identity.
Second, Sacred Heart aims to develop a sustainable youth leadership team that will foster spiritual growth and vocational discernment among youth and young adults even beyond the period of the grant. The church will thus host recruitment events and establish partnerships with other organizations that can support these ministries.
