First Baptist Church of Rosebud
Information about First Baptist Church of Rosebud
FBC Rosebud is an anchor congregation in Falls County, Texas. This small, rural congregation has a strong lay leadership and a talented choir. Jody Hickman has been at the church since 2012; his DMin project (which he is completing at Baylor's Truett Seminary) focuses on collaborative sermon preparation, so he is interested in helping lead the church to collaborate with other congregations.

Information about First Baptist Church of Rosebud's Congregational Project
First Baptist Church of Rosebud views the church’s vocation as deepening and enriching the lives of its members—so deeply affected by the challenging last few years—and of inviting others from outside the church into the life of the church.
The project proceeds in two phases. In the first phase, the church will listen to the ways that the Holy Spirit has been with and guided the congregation from the past to the present. The church will then host opportunities for recharge, including a church-wide revival and a retreat. They will draw on a range of resources, including Bible studies, sermons, and Christian books, to deepen the spiritual lives of congregants.
In the second phase of the project, the congregation will build on the renewed vision of the life that God offers by inviting others into this life. This process will grow out of listening to the Holy Spirit and discerning together in community the next steps of missional outreach.
