Park Lake Drive Baptist Church
Information about Park Lake Drive Baptist Church
Park Lake Drive Baptist Church has been experiencing a period of revitalization. Under the pastoral leadership of Amos Humphries, who came to the church in 2009, they have baptized around one hundred people (most of whom are adults). Spanish minister Janet Galarza translates the preaching on Sunday mornings to accommodate non-English speaking church members (about 40 percent). The church partners with other nearby congregations for ministry, and Humphries regularly meets with other local pastors.
The pastoral staff have strong ties to Baylor and Truett Seminary, where Humphries completed a DMin.

Information about Park Lake Drive Baptist Church’s Congregational Project
As a multi-ethnic and multi-generational church, Park Lake Drive Baptist Church believes its mission is to love every person who walks through its doors no matter their language, race, color, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomics, education, immigration status, age, political views, or life experiences.
Park Lake held a weekend workshop to create, develop, and foster cultural competency and racial humility in its members. Lay leaders from various aspects of the church organization (Sunday school teachers, deacons, and committee leaders) were invited to partake in this workshop and took pre-tests and post-tests to measure the program’s effectiveness. The program included six sessions integrating faith, practice, history, and biblical and theological education, all led by Pastor Amos Humphries.
Park Lake also plans for the project to have an impact beyond the congregation by sharing the curriculum that they have developed with other congregations who desire to be multi-ethnic and integrated to help them in fostering cultural competency and racial humility.
